Cinema is a modern form of art and a great way for storytelling. People can communicate feelings and ideas and it provides opportunities to see images and to hear sounds in the most creative way.  I discover cinema when I was a kid and experience a new world that not only include entertainment, but also, it gave me the chance to learn about literature, fantasy, drama, comedy and even history. On top of that, it improved my English language learning exponentially. When I started working with language learners, I quickly identified the need for using attractive material that would boost their interest in the language. That is how The Charlie Awards was born, as a way to encourage the students to think outside the box and walk the extra mile

The Charlie Awards Mini Film Festival. It has been an organic process, where a simple school project idea, has become much more for many students through the years. Engaging students into art, teamwork, creative thinking, problem solving and language use are just some of the benefits of endeavors like this one. Finally, I hope new generations could experience cinema as a rich tool for expressing themselves, in times where all voices should be heard and all of us could unite, and get along in this beautiful world.
